Big Book Fun for Everyone: Math and Literature Connection

Teachers will see a variety of children’s literature big books and how these are used to bridge language to develop mathematical concepts. Participants will see examples of how to use literature to teach counting, adding, subtracting, and comparing. The following ORIGO Big Books will be referenced during this session:

When students grapple with mathematics by connecting representations, they develop deeper understanding & agency. This session shares strategies for connecting representations with a focus on the power of sketches & more formal mathematical diagrams.
